Luke Hazell is a 24 year old DJ and producer originally hailing from Leeds and now living in London. Luke’s main influences are the quality producers and parties in Leeds. The Leeds house music scene is one of the best in the country. This is where he gained his true passion for house and techno music. Regularly attending Back2Basics, among other successful nights, he developed a keen interest in underground house and techno music. It wasn’t until he had a go on his friends’ decks in early 2012 that his passion really began to grow. He spent the first year messing around at house parties — learning the ropes and trying to build his sound and confidence. Although the wrong way round for most DJs, Luke first performed for a crowd after his first EP release, DJing in a Local bar in Islington. Now sure of his capability, he has been obtaining many gigs in and around London, including Ministry of Sound and a scheduled boat party down the Thames on New Year’s Eve.
At the back end of 2012 he got a copy of Ableton and spent the next few months getting to grips with the software. Luke has been a musical person from a young age, playing the guitar and being in bands growing up. So it didn’t take long for him to get into the swing of things. March 2013 saw his first break, when he was contacted by Royal Box Music who wanted to sign his first EP. It wasn’t long before he had 2 further releases, including one with Loving Music Records from Brazil. Closing out the year he was contacted by MEME Sounds who were keen to have him involved with their new Label. The two tracks to be released are “Lost Cause” and “I’m not that much of a Junkie” which have received great feedback since the snippets have been uploaded to Soundcloud.
Luke has achieved a lot in a short space of time and if 2013 is anything to go by then the future looks promising for Luke as he aims to be a common name in the London underground scene.
