InSOUL – Solace In Soul EP

The latest offering from Minneapolis's MEME label comes to us via Minneapolis expat, Chicago native and rising star InSOUL (MEME, Nervous) aka Nick Bjelopetrovich aka Bjelo (Monique Musique, KMS), with an EP of powerhouse originals joined by some of the scene's young leaders, including Detroit's Dantiez Saunderson, NYC's MANIK, and London’s Luke Hazell. Normally we would say "don't read this just listen," but we can't help ourselves.

First on the EP, InSOUL's “Solace” is a track of haunting grooves that slowly draw you into the warm embrace of a shadowy otherworld saturated with deep textures and a sexy slurred vocal that gets the body hot every time.

Next we have a “Solace” edit from Detroit’s Dantiez Saunderson (KMS Records, Soma, Frequenza) where Dantiez goes in for the kill using bits of both “Solace” and “Long Way Down” with a hooking chant and unique twist that inspires smooth swaggers and seductive sways on the dancefloor.

On his prototypical “Haze Jazz”, Bjelopetrovich takes us on a singular astral journey infused with steamy, swinging bebop cadences and saxophone-driven funk that is sure to be heard poolside this summer. Hope you’re ready to get wet. 😉

InSOUL’s version of “Long Way Down” continues the overall flow while showcasing his ability to knit together multi-layered harmonies, affirmative vibes and sly, subtle rhythms—no doubt the inspiration to the remixes that follow.

In his “Long Way Down (MANIK Likes Techno Remix)”, MANIK (Ovum, Culprit, Poker Flat) takes InSOUL’s track to a whole new level with a more forward approach expected from a NYC native. Recently featured on Heidi's BBC 1 Radio show, this track is already getting lots of attention. We here at MEME are very excited to get this out to you all!

Last on deck is Luke Hazell’s deep, driving “Long Way Down” remix where Hazell (Royalbox Music, Spindisc Recordings, Loving Records) delivers—in the smoothest way possible—an immersive, meditative exploration of sensual sound, crisp beats, and hovering bass that wrap around you like your lover’s arms as you wake on the beach after a party with your closest friends.

MEME releases are available in over 125+ digital stores and streaming outlets globally.

We could list them all here, but chances are you won't need it. Just try searching for our titles at your favorite digital download store or streaming source and chances are good that you'll find our music!

Stolen Cargo – Glitterball EP

MEME proudly re-introduces Stolen Cargo (Portugal) to kick off our Artist EP series. Their crisp and refreshing sound gained a lot of attention on our first compilation. All three originals work their magic in a variety of future funk situations.

Chicago’s Dan Ryan brings serious remix chops to the table, with an unmissable house interpretation containing one of the gutsiest, freshest, vibeyest breakdowns we've heard in ages.

Also from Chicago, up and coming InSOUL's remix strips everything back with that raw Chicago warehouse style we love coming from the Midwest; dropping a distorted kick and lacing sleeper grooves to draw heads and trainspotters close, every time. Returning to MEME for a third release, CTRL+F delivers a body and soul teasing remix complete with a piano & bass house hook and an 80’s groove b-boy and b-girl taste in the buildup. Worthy of discerning crates. Ready for prime parties.

MEME is back to put 20 on 15 with a stellar single, carefully curated to hit all points on the dance floor and sweet listening pads the world over. Enter Turnaround. This package caters to the adventurists in the crowd, lacing vibes down many avenues. There's truly something for everyone -- including an a cappella.

The iconic and eclectic Pezzner brings a sweepingly harsh beauty to his vocal (15 Watt) and instrumental (30 Watt) remixes. Conjuring something both fresh and timeless, the forward-moving minimal percussion, haunting vocals and guitar-amped bass create a soundscape built to inspire stadiums, small clubs and headphone sessions alike.

CTRL+F steps up next with an impressive second release. This pumping call and response bass house groover builds the dance floor every time. Chopped vocals, crisp percussion and tape delays set the tone while deep Rhodes provide relief for a tasty blend of classic and contemporary house music.

The Soundbed Original is a custom-crafted, full vocal, housey alt-pop tale of love and change. Jenny Lovlein's sultry voice navigates old school additive synths and a hoover breakdown.

Adding a vintage vibe, Ross Waldemar rounds out the package. Solid keys and retro-classic drums make this versatile enough for big rooms, intimate settings and even after hours. These warm, classic sounds smooth out any dance floor.

Closing out the remix duties, Champagne brings a future funk R&B vibe that's currently exploding in the underground. MEME is pumped to have snagged a remix by this talented Minnesota producer.

How We House Vol. 2 [In stores now]

Including music by Jus Nowhere, Luke Hazell, Pyrrhic, Rhythm Operator, CTRL+F, Jeff Swiff, Stolen Cargo and Ross Waldemar ft. Anthony Poteat!

How We House Vol. 2 ...available at a digital record store near you.

Sept 8th, 2014 MEME0002 hit the streets. Why do our catalog numbers go into the thousands, you ask? Because Mitch, our branding consultant (and sometimes graphic designer) liked the symmetry of four letters and four numbers. And why not?

We've got some great new music to bring to your eardrums from Jus Nowhere, Rhythm Operator, Pyrrhic, Ross Waldemar ft. Anthony Poteat and newcomers Luke Hazell, Jeff Swiff, Stolen Cargo and introducing CTRL+F with a breakout tune called "Pressure Cell."

This collection spans a range of tastes and refuses to be slotted into a narrow category.

Jus Nowhere's flawless "Chest Pains" layers classic groove elements with forward-thinking vocals; perfect for a sweaty club. We've tried it. It works.

Pyrrhic knocks it out of the park with an anthemic Future Garage take on a popular vocal with "Got Me Feelin'."

In the middle we've got some surprises like Jeff Swiff's killer hook from "Steez Bump" and Stolen Cargo's Nu Disco masterpiece "Glitterball".

There's also a Bass House take on some freakishly twisting minor melodies (CTRL+F's "Pressure Cell") and Acid House influences in Rhythm Operator's mind-bending "Gotta Know".

We swing toward Deep Vocal House comfort with Ross Waldemar ft. Anthony Poteat's "Help Me". Luke Hazell rounds things out with a kick heavy banger highlighting unforgettable soulful vocals, on "Lost Cause."
